The Most Difficult Part of Getting Fit
For me, the most difficult part of getting fit is eating healthier. Getting consistent exercise is difficult too, but I can do it if I put my mind to it. Once I add exercise to my weekly schedule, it isn’t that difficult to stick to it. I had a slow start in 2017 due to bad weather and school closing, but I’m on track now to exercise 4-5 days per week. Changing my diet is another matter. This is extremely difficult because I’ve been eating this way for 40 years! Eating habit is very hard to break.
Exercising With Physical Limitations
Exercise has never been easy for me. When I was young, I never understood why I couldn’t run and play as much as my friends. As I got older, I found out that this condition runs in the family. My mom and brothers also can’t sustain vigorous physical exertion. Some of my uncles and aunts on my mom’s side have that issue as well. Eventually, my brother found out that we have a mild form of mitochondrial disease, a rare genetic disorder. Luckily, it’s pretty mild for us and we could function normally for the most part. That’s life and we all have to play the hand we’re dealt. I still need to exercise even when I have some physical limitations. We can’t avoid exercise because things will only get worse as we age.
What’s Your Workout Routine?
Okay, so you made a New Year resolution to exercise more this year. How will you achieve that? Exercising more and getting fitter is the most common New Year resolution and almost nobody can stick to it. The only way to improve is to schedule exercise into your week. If you don’t schedule time for it, you will never have time to exercise.
Why You Need to Keep a Fitness Journal
Getting fit is hard when you get older. Practically everybody wants to lose weight, get fit, and become more healthy. That’s why losing weight is one of the most popular New Year resolutions. It’s easy to set goals, but it’s almost impossible to follow through if you don’t have a plan. You probably know that 80% of New Year resolutions fail. Heck, most of them are abandoned by March! Fitness goals are especially difficult because it require a change of lifestyle. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to change my lifestyle. My life is comfortable and I love it. However, I’m getting older and I need to change because my body isn’t young anymore. Anyway, to even have a chance of achieving your goals, you need to have a plan. That’s why you need to keep a fitness journal.
