2017 is almost half over and it’s time for the midyear fitness report! Actually, this is a bit early, but I need to report now because it is the last week of school for our kid. Once he’s out of school, I won’t be able to exercise as regularly. I’ll try my best, but I know I’ll only be able to work out occasionally. Okay, let’s go over my fitness goals this year and see how I’ve done so far.
School is almost out and I am not looking forward to summer break at all. I’ve been able to exercise consistently this year because our kid started kindergarten. Previously, it was really tough to exercise consistently. Now, I just go to the gym whenever our kid is in school. It’s a simple system and it worked beautifully. My fitness log shows that I rarely missed going to the gym this year. Well, the first few weeks were tough, but that was due to weather and other issues. I missed a few days during spring break too. From that experience, I know that summer break is going to absolutely mess up my exercise schedule. I really need to come up with some plans to stay active this summer.
It’s May and now is the time to get lean and mean for the summer. That’s what I plan every year, but I never could follow through. This year will be different, though. Why would this year will be different than the last 20 years? Okay, let me tell you. There are a few new strategies I’m putting into action this year. I’m sure it will make a difference and I’ll be leaner by the end of July. Read on…
Ugh! The gym is closed. Do you ever get the feeling the universe is conspiring against you? That’s how I feel this week about getting fit. On Tuesday, I was almost done with my workout when the fire alarm sounded. I quickly grabbed my jacket and left. I know you’re supposed to get out as fast as possible, but the locker was in the open gym area and the fire exit was very close by. Also, I didn’t see any fire or smell any smoke. I figured it was a random fire drill. My workout was pretty much done so I was good to go.
Ughh… I’m sore. I took a week off from working out during spring break to spend time with my kid. It was great because I needed a break from going to the gym all the time. However, it was tough to go back to the gym after a week off. I couldn’t do as many pull ups and I was sore all over. My shoulders and back don’t feel good at all. I have been icing them and that helped. Taking a week off was great, but I probably should have done a few light exercises even when I don’t go to the gym. Anyway, check out what we did for spring break.
It’s Spring Break and I’m taking a week off from working out. My kid is off so it’d be really tough to go to the gym anyway. The 24 Hour Fitness near our home doesn’t have childcare. There is another 24 Hour Fitness further away that has childcare, but I prefer to take the week off. I feel like I’ve been stuck (plateau) and a week off would be good. My body will have to chance to recover and I’ll be able to rest mentally as well.
